INVISIBLE BOOK DESIGN TASKS COMPLETED ON YOUR BEHALF:
EDIT MANUSCRIPT. Apply clear, consistent styling to all footnotes and endnotes.
CLEAN THE TEXT. By removing unwanted spaces, breaks, tabs and sections, the manuscript is made ready for type-setting and careful layout. If necessary, manuscript pages are reassembled to conform to publishing conventions.
CONTENTS. To make locating material easy and simple, a fully dynamic list of contents, figures and tables is prepared.
GRID SYSTEM. The under-pinning structure which determines the size of the page and the placement of the elements–such the margins, the number and width of columns, running headers and pagination–is called the Grid System. The author’s material and genre usually guide the designer’s choice of which basic grid to utilize.
THEME & STYLE. The Designer refines the grid to unify the placement of front matter, parts and opening chapter pages and their headings. The chapter opening pages are designed to set the tone for the author, book genre, and audience. A certain mood is achieved by the Designer’s selection of the proper font to use and which special flourishes to add.
BODY TEXT SET. This is where the author’s manuscript begins to take on book form. At the type-setting stage, the best practices are followed with regards to font size, leading, justification, hyphenation, tracking and kerning to ensure text is polished and readable.
IMAGES & TABLES. Style determines the placement of images and tables, All color images need to conform to 300 dpi cymk files. Table data is presented in a clear, consistent fashion with styling and shading chosen to complement the page design overall.
ELECTRONIC FILES. The finished book will be exported as properly formatted electronic files either created for the specs of your printer or to conform to electronic publishing requirements.
